The Bank’s wholly owned subsidiary, CVentures, was established in 2018 and is Egypt’s first corporate venture capital firm owned by a bank focused primarily on investing in category-defining companies in the field of financial services. In 2020 CIB completed its first foreign acquisition, purchasing a majority stake in Kenya’s Mayfair Bank. Mayfair, which has traditionally focused on corporate banking and high net worth individuals, provides CIB with a solid operational foothold in one of sub-Saharan Africa’s most dynamic banking markets. CIB’s strategy for Mayfair will prioritize back-to-back trade finance.
